REQUIREMENTS: ABET or basic education.
Job-related work experience: previous experience working with wild and large animals is recommended. Job-related knowledge: public service regulations, procurement procedures, PFMA, planning and organizing, cultural diversity, and health and safety. Job-related skills: good communication skills, planning, interpersonal skills, problem–solving, interpretation, analytical skills, listening skills, and working during extended hours.
DUTIES: Clean workstations and dispose of infected materials.
Clean predator cages, stables, and bomas. Remove bedding and wash floors and walls of animal holding areas. Keep biosecurity standards at workstations. Operate an incinerator, incinerate waste, and record the disposal of items. Care for animals and birds in accommodation and report any issues. Provide the correct food to animals in quarantine. Report illness quickly. Record health parameters daily. Perform basic animal care. Maintain quarantine grounds, gardens, and the perimeter fence. Mow lawns, trim edges, and remove vegetation from fences. Remove water and foreign objects from the premises. Inspect electric fences daily to ensure they are working properly. Assist with clinical work and necropsies. Help with game capture operations. Carry tools and equipment. Assist with necropsies and carcass incineration.
