ARTISAN BRICKLAYER

WORKSHOP (GRADE A) REF NO: 2026/10
SALARY: R243 597 per year, including all benefits as per OSD rules
CENTRE: Cape Town Regional Office

REQUIREMENTS: Must have a Trade Test Certificate in Bricklaying.
A valid driver‘s license is required.
Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 and its regulations is necessary.

The person should have a general understanding of their trade.
They must also know how to use tools, equipment, and machinery in the workshop.

DUTIES: The person hired will be responsible for calculating the materials needed for each project.
They will need to maintain government buildings, including any new construction. They should be ready to work extra hours when needed. They must also prepare progress reports on projects and oversee Artisan assistants and learners. They will report directly to the Artisan Superintendent. They must have a strong understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993. They should be willing to take part in various trips, including to other islands like Marion, Gough, and Antarctica, as well as Robben Island. The person must be prepared to climb ladders for inspections, work in tight spaces, handle dust, work at heights, and deal with high temperatures.
