REQUIREMENTS : Candidates must hold a Grade 12 certificate. At least one (1) year of relevant
experience is required. A Grade B PSIRA certificate is mandatory, and a valid
driver’s license will be considered an advantage. Knowledge and skills:
Understanding of access control procedures, protocols for managing and
moving equipment and supplies, prescribed security regulations (e.g., MIS,
NISA, Protection of Information Act, etc.), and the powers granted to security
personnel under these frameworks. Familiarity with relevant emergency
protocols, Security Policy and Procedures, Access to Public Premises and
Vehicle Act, and the OHS Act, 85 of 1993. Proficiency in computer use (MS
Office), communication (both verbal and written), supervisory capabilities,
problem-solving, decision-making, interpersonal skills, active listening,
planning, and organizational abilities. Personal attributes should include:
teamwork, reliability, accountability, trustworthiness, adaptability, meticulous
attention to detail, composure under pressure, and self-assurance.

DUTIES : Oversee the security duties carried out by security officers and service
providers, authorize the movement of equipment, documents, and supplies in
and out of the building or premises, inspect and report any malfunctioning
security systems (e.g., X-Ray machines, Walk-through metal detectors,
security lighting, etc.), review incident and occurrence books/registers,
supervise and assist during emergencies, track outcomes and implement
corrective actions to address deviations from standards, manage access
control to prevent unauthorized entry into buildings and premises, deliver
security-related services, identify risks and threats to departmental security,
supply incident details to investigating officers, conduct initial incident
investigations and submit findings, report defective equipment or systems,
ensure systems operate efficiently through routine maintenance, monitor and
respond to alarm activations, manage all control room functions to protect
departmental assets, supervise all control room operations, report any
incidents or non-compliance with security regulations, review footage upon
formal request through proper channels, maintain registers for all observed
incidents, assist with administrative and related duties, prepare rosters, shift
schedules, and overtime, manage leave and other personnel matters
according to HR policies, oversee the key control system, evaluate staff
performance, and identify training requirements.
