These learnerships are part of Sun International’s efforts to support South Africa’s national skills development programme.

Both programmes include hands-on work experience and formal training, leading to nationally recognized NQF qualifications.

Programme Overview

This accredited learnership provides unemployed youth with a National Certificate in Gaming Operations.
Learners will engage in practical work involving casino cashiering and general gaming operations, which helps enhance their opportunities in the hospitality and gaming sectors.

The role involves working in both smoking and nonsmoking environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Check if the work area and equipment are prepared
Ensure the assigned station is clean
Clear slot machines on count days
Perform daily count procedures
Enter data into systems
Report any suspicious activity
Keep proper records and documentation
Provide friendly and professional guest service

Gaming Operation Learnership (Slots – Technical & Floor Assistant)

Programme Overview

This programme provides a qualification in Gaming Technical & Floor Assistant operations.
Learners will gain practical experience working with electronic gaming machines (EGMs), technical support, and floorrelated tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist guests with any questions or requests
Clean and service gaming equipment
Replace and test small parts such as card readers, keypads, screens, and note acceptors
Keep the workshop safe and tidy
Store equipment properly
Help with signage, equipment setup, and promotional materials

Minimum Requirements (For Both Programmes)

Applicants must:

Have a Matric certificate or an equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification
Provide a valid South African ID
Pass an English test
– Be able to work during different shifts
– Be willing to work in smoking areas
– Be able to stand for long periods
– Be physically capable of moving machines and handling tools
Have good interpersonal skills
– Be wellgroomed and show personal initiative

Show emotional strength and resilience
– Be an active listener
Have basic knowledge of gaming components
Demonstrate initiative and eagerness to learn

Important Notes

– Appointment is subject to licensing by the KwaZulu-Natal Gaming Board
Completing the learnership does not guarantee a permanent job
– Preference will be given to designated groups as per the Employment Equity Act
